Kinetic Watch Winders/Chargers (single and dual models) & must know about Kinetic Chargers
-All you need to know before buying a Kinetic watch charger/winder-
A brief history of the kinetic wrist watch
The kinetic wristwatch was pioneered by Seiko in 1988 with the release of the Seiko AGS (Automatic Generating System), later rebranded as "Kinetic" in 1991.
The technology combines
elements of both automatic mechanical watches and quartz watches. It
uses a rotor—similar to an automatic mechanical watch—that swings with
the wearer's wrist movements. However, instead of winding a mainspring,
this rotor spins a tiny electrical generator that charges a rechargeable
battery or capacitor, which then powers a quartz movement.
Key developments:
1988: Seiko introduces the AGS, the world's first kinetic watch movement
1991: Rebranded as "Kinetic" for clearer marketing
1998: Seiko releases Kinetic Auto Relay, which could "hibernate" when not worn and reactivate when moved again
1999: Introduction of Kinetic Direct Drive, which showed the power reserve and allowed manual charging via a crown
The kinetic watch solved a
major problem: it eliminated the need for regular battery changes
(typical quartz watches need new batteries every 2-3 years) while
maintaining quartz accuracy. When fully charged, most kinetic watches
can run for several months without being worn.
While Seiko remains the primary
manufacturer of kinetic technology, the concept has influenced the
broader watch industry's exploration of alternative power sources,
though many other brands have focused on solar-powered quartz movements
instead.
Single and dual models at most attractive prices
Seiko has discontinued their Kinetic Winder some years back
At the time it was priced well over U$ 400
Watch Winders Works has addressed the Kinetic Watch enthusiasts who have been unable to source a reliable, warranty-accompanied Kinetic Watch Charger
To the best of our knowledge, Watch Winder Works is the only company that offer Kinetic Watch Chargers; the motors are highly modified; 12-months warranty provided as on all of our products
Our Kinetic watch chargers/winders can be used to charge a kinetic watch as well as wind an automatic mechanical watch:
By mounting the Kinetic with its crown overhanging past the edge of the watch-mount, the winder will activate into strong left & right oscillations as the watch drops from its top position down
Alternatively, if the automatic mechanical watch (non-kinetic), is mounted right in the center of the mount, it will rotate smoothly as it should for an "auto"
Below are two videos demonstrating the two different rotation actions:
Below video shows the watch with its crown moved well over the edge of the watch-mount (Kinetic watch) here the watch (automatic-not Kinetic) is mounted in the center producing rocking oscillations rotating smoothly
