What is the recommended TPD for my watch?
All manufacturers of automatic watches suggest a TPD (Turns Per Day) for their timepieces, which is the MINIMUM TPD. Because the TPD is typically higher during regular use, particularly for athletes, it may increase by up to 3x without harming the main spring. This is because all automatic watches manufactured in recent decades feature a slipping clutch that protects the mainspring from overwinding or damage.
Consequently, properly designed watch winders cannot harm the movement of an automatic watch unless the winder has a magnetic effect on the watch.
